Kayla Johnson holds Bachelors Degrees in both Music Education and Mathematics from Washington State University. In 2013, Kayla graduated from Washington State University with a Master of Arts in Choral Music Education.
Kayla Johnson began taking piano lessons at age 11 and discovered the joy of being a collaborative pianist early on when she accompanied six choral ensembles at her high school in Spokane. While at WSU, she continued studying collaborative piano under the direction of Dr. Karen Savage. Kayla also continued private piano lessons with both Dr. Jeffrey Savage and Dr. Gerald Berthiaume.
In addition to being a pianist, Kayla is also a soprano vocalist and a choral conductor. As a vocalist, she received three national scholarships, was a finalist in the Washington Idaho Young Artist Competition in 2011, and was a finalist in the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition in 2012. Since moving to Seattle in 2013, she has performed with numerous choirs and currently sings with The Esoterics. Kayla is passionate about music education and is excited to work with the staff and choristers of BbC and BGC.
